Tuxedos
On that note, you can check out the look we are thinking of for the groomsmen here. I would be wearing the same thing, except for a white vest and a white tie.

In our attempts to stay on top of plans for the wedding, yet not leave the city every weekend, Gregory and I squeeze as many appointments into our trips to New Hampshire as we can. A perfect example is this coming Saturday. We will be meeting with 3 different wedding photographers, capping it off with going shopping for tuxedos and then going to look at Target for gift registry ideas. This will be followed by dinner at my parents' house. I've had less meetings at the office in a week! But after this, I am hoping that we hit the "lull" that all those married couples keep telling us about.
Background: Jen and I hate the Funky Chicken. With a passion. No Funky Chickens at our wedding reception. In fact, we like a lot of music that might be considered part of our parents (or grandparents) generation, and that's what we want played by our DJ.
So, it was a great sign that when Jen went to visit our likely DJ this afternoon, who happened to be sitting on his desk (in figurine form of course) during the meeting?
Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley.
Rock on.
All the responses are in and a small group of family and close friends will be joining me on Super Bowl Sunday to shop for my wedding dress! I am currently shopping at David's Bridal as they seem to have the best deals around for the entire bridal party. Check out the site and let me know what you think.
In the past 5 weeks since we got engaged, Jen and I have made lots of progress in our wedding plans. The highlights:
- Set the date - October 16, 2004, 10:30am
- We had dinner with our families. They had met many times before, so this wasn't the normal stressor. It was great to have them all together and talking informally about our future plans.
- Reception / Ceremony - we found a great place to have the reception and ceremony. The wedding planner there has been wonderful, and we are just about to send in the paperwork to finalize the booking.
- Guest List - after many discussions among ourselves and with our families, we settled on a guest list of about 125 people.
- Bridal Show - we went to a bridal show at the Whittemore Center at UNH so we could meet some of the Highlander's preferred vendors. We got to eat some great cake from Jacque's, got some great tux deals from Mr. Tux. and see lots of other things.
- Dinner with Jeff Salloway - on the same day that we went to bridal show, Professor Salloway invited us to his home to have dinner with him and his wife. It was a wonderful evening, and he provided some amazing counsel and advice.
I am sure that I have forgot many of the things we have done in the past month or so...more to come.
I've entered a bunch of information, and will be posting a few pictures and some more info in the next hour or so. More to come!
Over the next few days, I will be creating this website to allow Jennifer and me to record the plans for our wedding, and share info with our friends, families, and guests.
Stay tuned!
