Something old...

On top of everything else that happened this weekend, I wanted to have a separate posting for a gift of "something old" from my father. When my father's father was a teenager and he had just started to date my grandmother, he made them both a set of rings in metal shop from nothing more than a nickel and a dime. Somehow these two rings have managed to survive the past 65 years so that my father was able to pass them down to Gregory and I. Oddly enough, the rings fit both of us and we are now wearing them on our right hands. My grandmother passed away when I was very young and my grandfather just passed this past fall. I don't have any of their things, so these rings are very special to me.

A Wedding-Centric Day

This past Saturday was a day that centered on the wedding. While normally this bride and groom enjoy sleeping late on Saturday mornings, we were up and out the door by 8 am to make it to the Highlander Inn to meet with our new wedding planner, Caroline. She was great, and started us on our way to making our wedding plans more finalized. We settled on the linens for the tables, the cocktail napkins, the favors, and shared all the details of the other services involved in the wedding. After that meeting, we went and made our cake choice at Jacque's. I am happy to report that our guests will be enjoying a spice cake filled with apple marmalade and caramel buttercream frosting. How festive! I also received a call from David's Bridal that the bridal party dresses were in, so I left Greg with my dad for a bit and took my mother and sister to pick up the dresses. And last, but not least, we received guest lists from both sides of the family. It was a productive, if not exhausting day.
